3 Russian films to contend for European Film Awards

Two of the pictures have already won prizes at Venice and Berlin.

The European Film Academy has published a long list for its European Film Awards, featuring 52 films from 36 countries. They include are three Russian films – The Postman's White Nights by Andrei Konchalovsky, Corrections Class by Ivan Tverdovsky and Under Electric Clouds by Alexei German Jr.

Konchalovsky's film won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2014, while Under Electric Clouds received the Silver Bear at Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. Corrections Class won the best debut prize at the Russian film festival Kinotavr.

European Film Awards nominees will be revealed at the Seville European Film Festival on Nov. 7, while the winners will be announced and awarded in Berlin on Dec. 12.
