Gorky Park . If you want to have non-stop fun

If you have decided to stay in the city, then be sure to go to Gorky Park. Over the past few years it has become the epicenter of the cultural life of Russia's capital and was included in the top 25 most popular destinations in accordance with the number of check-ins. During the first few days of May it will be really hot there - different seasonal openings will kick off. Various multimedia installations on the Pushkinskaya Embankment, lectures and master classes, theater performances, live music, sports events, tours of the Neskuchny garden and the Vorobyovy Gory - all this is just part of a vast program prepared especially in time for the holidays. By the way, do not worry if you won't be able to spend these days at a resort - there will be plenty of sand in the park! This year the park will have a special sandbox with kinetic sand for building figures out of sand and, of course, a public beach which everybody loves. It will take up the whole area behind the Musical platform. You won't get bored!

When it will be held: May 1-4.

Gorky Park works around the clock. Festivities will be held until 23:00. The entrance to the park is free.

 

Arkhangelskoye Estate-museum. Perfect if you are drawn to Beauty

Amidst the vast territory of the Arkhangelskoye estate-museum, which was acquired in 1810 by the famous Russian collector and art patron Duke Nikolai Yusupov, you will not only enjoy a nice walk through the park and the beautiful architecture of the 19th century, but also look at the impressive exhibition of French painting. This museum contains one of the best art collections in all of Russia. Paintings by Robert, Dufrénoy, Boucher, Van Loo, Goff and other masters which were all once owned by the ducal family can be seen in the Grand Palace. The exposition of more than 40 works is complemented by arts and crafts, as well as rare book editions dating from XVII - XIX centuries. Musical concerts will be held on May 1 and 4 May at the estate. Students from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts and an early music ensemble «VolkonskyConsort» is set to perform.

The exhibition will be open until March 8, 2015. Tickets cost 300 rubles ($ 9).

Concerts:

May 1 : Concert by 4 TH year Students of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, Musical theater of the Faculty, Professor Under guidance of Dmitry Bertman. The concert will be held in the Colonnade hall and will start at 16:00.

May 4 : Concert of the early music ensemble VolkonskyConsort. The concert will be held in the Oval Hall of the Palace and will start at 16:00.

Tickets cost 350 rubles ($ 10).

 

Red Presnya Park . If your soul is in need of music

Here on May 1 and 2 you will be able to hear real American music outdoors. The Red Presnya Park will kick off a two-day Jazz in the Park music festival. The event promises to be truly amazing: out of a large number of musical groups, which will be performing, there is a "Moscow" jazz ensemble, the head of which is the student of Leonid Utesov - Vladimir Lebedev, besides this - Oleg Lundstrem, and a unique professional female jazz band Lady Jazz. It is interesting that in addition to well-known jazz bands relatively young ensembles will also perform. For example, rising star Elya Vasiliev will come straight from the United States to attend this event.

May 1-2. Performances will be held from 14:00 to 19:00. Admission is free

 

The Muranovo Estate. If you want to remember the Past

Do you want to feel like a real nobleman in the truest sense of the word? Then you should definitely visit the homestead of the Tyutchev family. For the fourth year in a row during the first May Day celebrations a traditional arts festival The May Get-togethers will be held here. The guests will have a chance to fully immerse in the culture of the 19th century: there will be theatrical tours around the estate and inside it, an opening of the exhibition "Fashion of the Art Nouveau époque", cricket, horse riding and of course, music and dancing.

The event will be held from May 1-2.

The cost of the excursion is 200 rubles ($ 7).

Nicola Lenivets. If you are in need of appeasement

Is there an opportunity to get away from Moscow for a few days? Then you should go to Nicola-Lenivets and you will never regret it! It became a truly iconic place - Nicola-Lenivets, which is situated on the territory of the National Ugra Park, is especially loved among artists. People come here to escape from the bustling city, to communicate with the like-minded, get some fresh air and, of course, to view stunning art objects which appear out of nowhere in the midst of fields and forest hills. During this year's May Day celebrations a huge program will be held. You will be able to plant some crops at the farm and together with volunteers lay out the first ever Russian asparagus plantation. Besides this you will be able to participate in various culinary master classes, to help in the restoration of park facilities after the winter and to even build a special site for bird watching. A nice addition to all of this will be walks in the spring forest, a view of the river, which is finally free of ice, stunning sunsets, and in the evening over a cup of hot tea, you will be able to enjoy watching short - length films, winners of the New York Film Academy contest.

The event will be held from May 1-10.
